In February 2007, ghostshell started a forum website supporting the players of the Tremulous game who visted the DretchStorm (DS) server. DS was (and still is) a rebel game server, guided almost entirely by its users. With a lot of work and dedication from its small community, it has cemented itself as one of the most active and popular Tremulous servers.

That same year in early Autumn, Tremulous started a slow decline of its userbase. This prompted the DS members to vote and approve a move to support Free Gaming using the same community concept we used with Tremulous. In March 2008 the o8groups discussion groups opened, adding support for any games that were favorite among its members.

o8groups was shinny!

In January 2009, o8groups re-branded under the name GameBoom. Features were streamlined and the groups coalesced into a single community.

Currently the GameBoom community encompasses a healthy and varied bunch of gamers from all backgrounds. Our ongoing effort is to provide all the tools that gamers need to answer the perennial question: What will I play today?

Cool avatars! hehe
