Well, this is really just a snippet, but I thought I'd post it anyway.
Today, during my Digital Recording class, my instructor, who owns a gaming company (the name escapes me right now, sorry), told me that his company (or one he's affiliated with) is working on a new game engine.
The reason this is exciting is because he says it's way beyond even the Unreal 3 engine, with ray tracing mapping and a whole bunch of other cool sounding stuff that I didn't understand.
The point of this is that there is a new gaming engine coming out, and I was wondering if anyone had heard about this or if it's just something to keep an eye out for.
EDIT: I think I may have found the company's website, for what it's worth: http://www.dieselgames.com/projects.html.
Looks like they're keeping a lot of this under wraps, although I'll see what else I can gather.
most engines are based from already established ones, very rarely to hear about something "new".
(another edit): Check out this link, too. This is the sound technology that DieselGames has licensed. Check the demo video, it's basically like 5.1 surround with just two speakers!
