Hello, another review from newly appointed admin of the games discussion group. Me and AirJordan agreed that our reviews should become more official, so we'll be doing a bunch o' stuff to make our reviews cooler. Today I'm reviewing Sega's Sonic And The Secret Rings for the Wii. Now, this game follows the same style as the other latest Sonic games in the series. You start the level, automaticly propulsing forwards, then from there, all you must do is jump and dodge past obstacles, destroy enemies & flipping switchs with a homing attack, and braking when needed. The game as the main character, Sonic, is brought into the story of the Arabian Knights, where he meets a female genie. The game puts you in many cool themed levels, each one including different stages in the same area, but agaisnt a different path, so the recycling is not very noticable. In each level (In which there are about eight), you usually start off with at least one stage crucial to the story, then you must play the same area (And past areas) again, but along a different path and with a different objective. Later on, you start getting boss fights, which are absolutly, life threateningly hard. You usually follow the boss around a looped track, picking up coins and dodging his ranged attacks, when you have enough coins, head up to him and find out how you can damage him. Do this enogh times, and he will die. But the hard part is, no matter how difficult he is, if you die, you start him ALL OVER AGAIN. I swear, in one level, you must get up close, home onto one of the boss's horns, keep shaking the wii remote to pull it off, then land safely, before he launches very dangerous electric bolts at you, I played after my shower, I found myself sweating horribly once I finished him. As childlike as the game looks and sounds, this is no kids game. This is a well put together game, one of my favourites. To steer Sonic, you hold the wiimote horizontally, then spin the wiimote in the correspondant direction to turn. Like a racing game. Now lets get on to the voice acting. OMG! It sucks. Badly. The voices used in the game are not professianal at all. The female genie's voice, sounds just wrong. I highly suggest you put in the original japanese voices, there are subtitles. The graphics in the game are top-notch. Definetly one of the best looking Wii games. The landscape of the level is stunning once you get up high, there is no pop-up, if there is, it isn't noticable because of the game's fast pace. Another thing, the water in the game is BREATHTAKING! The water looks so real, it looks like something on the PS3. The game also features a small RPG element, which I dont use to often. Sonic possesses a special rings embedded with powers. You can cary up to four settings of powers at a time, which you choose before every stage. As you continue, you discover more powers and moves, plus more space to put powers in for each ring. As this is a Wii game, there is also a whole bunch of multiplayer mini-games that make more use of the wii remote. The games arent very crucial, so I reccommend leaving them alone. Long story short, Sonic And The Secret Rings is a very good game, good graphics, fun gameplay, definetly not a kids game, it is something you should keep your eye open for.
i put a youtube video on, it doesnt seem to be ther anymore. weird.
