edit: moved to blog now that I have access. Thanks ghost
Hey everyone, it's been a while
As most of you have realized, I very rarely play trem anymore. However, that doesn't mean I've stopped doing stuff
Lately, I've been quite involved in the development of
Quake2World. The game is a classic deathmatch shooter focused on speedy movement. Personally, it's the most fun I've had playing a dm game in a long time. The code is based on the q2 engine and is GPL, although it features many improvements, especially on the graphical side, with normal/parallax mapping, specular lighting, per-pixel lighting, etc.
I've been helping out a bunch on the mapping front, and I've also taken some stabs at texturing some of the models. Below you can see a couple of the q2w maps I made:
Realpolitik:

Devolver:
I also made a
quick promo video for it. If anyone with some talent in 2d, 3d, mapping, coding, or sound is interested in contributing, just shoot me a pm or join us on irc, #quetoo on freenode.
Aside from that, I've also recently begun working on a new urban terror map set in an abandoned asylum, and featuring a secret underground high-tech complex. For this one I've been having fun creating my own textures, and currently I am only using 3-4 borrowed textures in the whole map. Screenies follow:
The map is for a speedmapping contest and the theme is 'james bond style villain lair'. Speaking of which, if anyone wants to contribute some insane-sounding wall scribblings, or record some creepy insane-sounding voice clips, I'd be glad to use them
Aside from that, I also released an old texture pack I had idling on my hard drive. preview:
Lastly, I've had a rather unpleasant falling out with the main OpenArena developer. Suffice to say I won't be contributing to that game for the foreseeable future, and I strongly suggest you to do the same.
To keep updated on what I'm doing, check out my
website from time to time.
Cheers,
TRaK
