Well, to start I had an Xbox360 for only a year and a half and had the RING OF DEATH for over 5 times. Well i really dont know why the RING OF DEATH happened to me 5 times in a span of a year and a half! So i went to the PS3 and there had been no problems SO FAR and I had it for over a year. The cell broadband is over a billion a sec! when i got the ps3, like a little bit of a month later, the XBOX ELITE comes out. The FIXED version of the 360. So, I might go back to the 360 and give it another try but now with the Elite! And I found out that I was not the only one with this problem. THousands of people all over the world are experincing what I had went through so i got a vid from YouTube(not me)
If you dont know what the Ring of Death is watch this:

I got the ring of death ONCE and sent it in with no charge to get it fixed.
Never had a problem again so you must be pretty mean to your xbox...
Also 7 of my friends have them, only 2 have gotten the ring... so Its probably how you treat you xbox

Ghost: Ps3 = lose. while it does have blu ray, it only has about 2 good games with decent online play at best... (as apposed to the xbox's numerous excellent games) Also, the system is pretty expensive...
If you were to get something this would be my listing of consoles
Xbox 360
Wii
Ps2
Ps3
Xbox
Gamecube
This is from personal experience of playing all these syastems

From me playing all of those systems u listed myself Me, I noticed that ps3 gets you more envolved in the game like the Wii, as you move around the controller to do different moves/things. the ps3 is more for people who want to play with something like that and for people who are for GREAT graphics in both movies and games, while the 360 is for more hardcore online games (halo 3, Call of duty 4) and better community of people to play with online

Yea, i disagree on the "GREAT" graphics. In games, the graphics are hardly better then Xbox's, also, the Ps3's games rarely uses the tilt function of the Ps3 save racing games. The makers of games usually make "relatively" the same game for all consoles and do not actually improve the graphics for PS3. As for movies, unless you are going to buy blu ray discs, is no better quality than xbox. And I honestly am perfectly fine with my regular DVD's that I can rent from my local movie store and watch on and xbox that up-converts the image for my HDTV. The Wii definitely has the most entertaining "gameplay" on a set game... While it lacks in graphics, it is great for parties with people of every age.

If you get the "ring of death" you could try this fix:
Well I own a PS3, I got it since it was first released (got mine on January 2007), I have the very 1st generation, the one with 60 GB HD, Emotion Engine (hardware PS2), 4 USB ports and Wireless G. The only issue I had was the Bluray started doing some weird things after a firmware update, it didn't load or eject the discs properly. After 2 weeks, they sent a new firmware upgrade and it was fixed, so I bet I wasn't the only one. Let me tell you that where I live is hot! Around 86 F most of the time, and I never had overheating problems. I have never had any issue with overheating, but they say that, instead of burning your chips, the PS3 "locks" until is cold, giving you a overheat warning on the leds.
AFAIK, the ring of death on the Xbox 360 is due overheating problems. Microsoft pushed it into the market on a hurry to be the 1st to display HD gaming, so it didn't had the same development cycle as the ps3. The ps3 took more time to get out as we all know, but they solved all those problems. Okay it costs a little more, but you will never need to pay for internet access on it, so in the end it will cost you less. Bluray won over HD-DVD, so that means Xbox 360 users need to get a Bluray player IF they want to see HD movies on their nice HDTV, so at the end they spend more money.
About the games, the only ones you can't play on ps3 are the MS proprietary ones. All the rest are for both platforms now. Of course, you will never see Metal Gear Solid 4, Resistance 1 or 2 or Grand Turismo on a 360, to mention some. There will always be exclusive games on all platforms. But this is just a commercial matter, because IBM produces the processors for Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii, all having the same basic compatible roots: the Power PC. So, if a game studio produces a game for one console, it can port it to the other 2. The rest is only money.
What the Xbox 360 has that makes it really good is the Dashboard. Being a software company, MS really took the time to make their console OS really good. Also, playing online with it is easier. the PS3 is getting there, you can play online of course but it needs polish. What they say is going to be the fix for that is PS Home.
So, which company is the winner? Of course is IBM. Think about that for a moment. With the money they got from Microsoft buying the Xenon processors (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xenon_CPU) they developed and built the Cell (ps3) and the Broadway (Wii) processors, for me it looks like an agreement between the big guys in this story. My two coins.
P.S. I don't want to convince anyone to get a Xbox, Wii or ps3. Get whatever makes you happy. Im happy
