Hello everyone! I am back from my escapades of scrimming, and I've learned quite a bit since I joined up with Lt / Nt.
Most people underestimate the s1 humans are being quick and easy to kill with dragoons because of the one headshot by the goon.
However this is not true.
Heres the scenario
Its s1 vs s1, the match has already started off with some of your teammates feeding a goon or two. Your still several kills from s2, and all you have at your disposal is Pain Saw which really cant be used against a goon effectively, Rifle, which though is good for chasing will not provide the initial damage you need to easily dispatch any good goon. Then you have the Shotgun, Lasgun, Mass Driver and Chaingun.
Now before you run out to try and kill the goon, ALWAYS pick up light armor. It is a MUST for goon hunting or you will give the goon easy kills. Now once you have that, try to get a team of shotguns.
If you've ever seen a squad of about 3 light armor / shotguns in action, they can easily take out goons. If you observed further, you'll notice that they use crouch. When humans crouch, it seems to decrease their hit box and therefore without jumping, a goon really cannot get a good head shot, which slows him down a LOT.
So right before a goon is about to come in and try to headchomp you, quickly duck. If you're lucky he cant get the headshot off you. A pro can easily bob and weave through goon head chomps, though of course it only allows for 1 more hit or so but thats still ample time for your teammates to unleash more rounds of shotgun, chaingun, or whatever else into them.
When goon hunting, I prefer shotgun if you've ever seen me play. It has quickly became my weapon of choice mainly because it lets out large bursts of damage in a timely manor. (Around 50 damage per shot if the whole bullet volley hits) It is excellent to pick off dretches because of its spread shot, marauders dare not approach it because even they will have trouble avoiding a well aimed shot, and the closer a goon gets the more it will take.
Another nifty trick I've learned is that aliens love to flee. The best option you have for this is to be ready to jump in FRONT of the goon so he cant pounce off and keep unloading shots into him. If he manages to get past you, run after him. If you haven't activated your sprint, do so and run towards him unloading shots. Make sure not to stray far too off if the enemy goon hasn't screamed, and when turning a corner be ready to duck.
If the goon has gotten away, go rejoin your team. Don't ever abandon your teammates unless absolutely necessary, as if a goon gets behind them and theres only two of them, they can be killed with relative ease, especially if they are flanked.
Another tip is never leave base without a medkit and ammo unless your team has ran off to chase solo. Try to always back them up, but don't be foolish about it. Running out with most of your hp and no medkit is much better then running out with 4 hp and you're at risk for an easy dretch kill / tk shot.
Anyways, thats it for now. I'll update it periodically if theres anything else (Which im sure there is, I just don't remember at the moment.) I can think of. Hopefully this helps some of you improve your human game.
