Would you please add "Board Game" and "Card Game" to your Genre table and "Donationware" to your License table?

Or does that require a major rewrite of your code and or database?

You might want to consider upgrading your forum Software to SMF 2.0 also. It is secure, and has a extensive selection of themes and mods: http://www.simplemachines.org

For now please put them under genre "Other->Traditional/Classic", I'm not making any changes on this code anymore. As for license Donationware, if the source is not available it is still "Freeware". If the source is available then it's FOSS, I changed the "Open Source" to "Free/Open Source" to reflect this better.

I'm familiar with SMF, but I'm not changing anything on the current site as all the effort is going to a new version. Thanks for your suggestions.

Excellent!

Putting numerous card and board games under genre "Other->Traditional/Classic" was my default parameter anyway. I'm glad my default conditions seem to align with this sites rules and standards nicely .... it is like I came to you ALREADY Programmed to be an ideal netizen (for your sites purposes) ....

Thank You for explaining about Donationware and Freeware and FOSS.

Could you explain what credits are for, and, if it is not too personal, how you got -99981 of them?

the site credits don't much now except to change your forum title. credits will go away in the next site revision in favor of medals/accomplishments. At some point we were going to have a "shop" to use your credits to get real goods (tshirts and such), but later realized that would put a $$$ value to credits and that would have been a bad idea. I have -99981 because once you reach 100,000 the math messes up and subtracts Smiling

Yeah, some systems/older CPUs reserve the 8th bit (bit number 7) as a SIGN Bit and if it is set it is USUALLY a Negative number ...

Even though it seems to be stored as BCD: once there is a carry to the next column it does indeed set it negative. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to find the Y2K bug living comfortably somewhere on your site ....

(Smiles as he says that .... ) Cool

A feature I would find more useful than credits would be the number of games I have submitted.

Say: How Many Games HAVE I Submitted Anyway? More than 100? More than 150? I find it difficult to determine ...

Can YOU Tell Me?

Oh, No. I AM not at all Discriminating as to 'game quality'. I'm holding a couple of rotten stinkers back for April first ....

As long as it is free and SOMEBODY out there might like playing it I'll list it on my site. Not everything I post on my site is going to wind up here - and some of the things here don't meet my standards.

I don't know what I'll drag in next. Could be something as righteous as FoFix, or a ?!!&$%? like The Mighty Jill Off. I hope you like Openglad ... even though it is OLD it looks like it could still be a lot of fun.

That's the thing: I generally don't DO "FPS" - they're just not my style at all - but I know a lot of people DO like them so I actively hunt them.
Different strokes for different folks, right? Some gal may be leaving a wet spot in her chair as she jumps her way up the tower (to her Queen) right now.

So, I try not to be too picky and limit my options, or judge other peoples taste in games. I claim to be Crazy, Too.

IMO it's not so much what I like/dislike, but rather if the game is active. I personally dont see a point on promoting or listing game projects that are "dead". If/when the project comes back to life (announcement from devs, new asset or code commits, etc) then we'll pass the word and roll with it. I understand that we could help it come back to life just by promoting it, but I think there has to be some sort of commitment from the devs too. Even a faint pulse should be present.

BTW, in the coming weeks we'll be switching gears to FOSS and Indie games _only_. What this means is that all those listed AAA commercial titles will go away, also any game without a defined dev contact -- this rules out games that you must download from 3rd party websites like download.com etc.

Our definition of "indie game" is simple: a game without a publisher or where the publisher is its own developer. I think most people know what FOSS is: Free/Open Source Software -- games where you can get the code and modify.

Anyway, I dont want to get too ahead, but just giving you a heads up .. and dont be alarmed if you notice game dropouts. A formal announcement will be out soon.

Keep on truckin' !!
