Enemy Territory (also known as ET) is a free multiplayer FPS that is based on the Return to Castle Wolfenstein series. ET is based in WWII and has two teams. The Axis and the Allies. There are 6 basic (default) maps that make up the European Campaign and East African Campaign. You can find some servers that run just the default maps. You can also find other servers that run various mods and/or non-default maps.

Each team has 5 classes. Soldier, Medic, Engineer, Field Ops and Covert Ops. Each class has specific skills. Having a good mix of classes is essential to having a winning team.

The Soldier is the only class that can use heavy weapons. The "grunt" of the team. The Soldier is the one who does the heavy work.

The Medic can both heal teammates and poison the enemy. Medics can also drop health packs around the map. Each team should have at least one medic. Some players play as Medic's all the time. Once they raise their skill level high enough (Level 4), they are able to use adrenaline which makes them move faster and take a little less damage.

The Engineer is needed on most every map. They are the only ones who can repair things, build things, plant dynamite, defuse enemy dynamite and lay land mines.

The Field Op has the ability to call in air and artillery strikes. They are the only ones who can also drop ammo packs around the map for others to pick up.

The Covert Op has the ability to use a satchel charge to blow things up. The Covert Op can also put on the uniform of a dead enemy which can help to infiltrate the enemy base. The Covert op can also use binoculars to spot enemy landmines which will show up on the command map. They can also spot enemy forces which show up on the command map.

If you like team based multiplayer games, give this one a try. It if a fun game and pretty easy to learn.
Enemy Territory also uses a program called Punkbuster to help prevent cheating. There tends to be alot of empty servers or servers that use bots (not real players) and they are normally pretty good. With so many games out there, it is hard to choose a favorite. This may nto be for everyone but it is good for a break.

ghostshell @ Sat, 10/18/2008 - 1:20am · #477 awesome review heckle! ET is a classic that is still good to play. Tremulous fans must thank ET for a lot of the features that were ported to Trem.

I have played this game several times but not the multiplayer version because of the same reason as Starship said.
